A few weeks ago I tried my hand at baking using a historical recipe from my local archives. Check out how my 1907 gingerbread went here.
Over the last few years I’ve been involved as a volunteer at my local archives, first as part of a larger project called ‘Trawling Through Time’ which was focused on making the maritime history of the area more accessible, and then on a more casual basis helping out in the conservation studio. Due to the restrictions during this pandemic, I was disappointed that I might not be able to be involved this summer, but after a few emails we managed to work something out. Trying out this recipe is the first of some digital content I’m going to be working on for them this summer – so hopefully you can watch out for some more things over the next few months.
Check out the blog for the East Riding Archives too, they’ve got some interesting stuff ad a really cool app to use to explore the history of the area.
